Wedding Budget Tip- Timing is Everything.

Posted by Lynn Crow | Under Budget and Money Saving Tips, Wedding Saving Tips, Weddings Thursday Aug 20, 2009

Ok, this is a real secret coming from the inner sanctum of the wedding industry…..my husband owns an event hire company specialising in weddings, and I can tell you that in winter it is a real struggle to keep the sales coming in.  He will do almost anything to get a sale for the winter months and even in September (think spring wedding!). This is the time to book your wedding.

I have seen him discount up to 50% off the normal price of not only marquees, but also other items such as table, chairs etc .  But only at this time of year and just coming into spring, oh and Ok January is also pretty quiet as well, but that did so not come from me!

You may be thinking weather, but if you live on the east coast of Oz and look out the window on any of our lovely clear sunny winter days you will notice that there is very little rain at this time of year.  Also your makeup will definately not run, and your men will not swelter in their suits.

I also know for a fact that the same cashflow problems are happening for restaurants, decorators, florists and caterers.  I know this because after over 10 years in this business these are the people we speak to all the time, and we refer to this time of year as “baked beans season”, because this is what we are all eating.

Remember that no matter where you live the above information will be the case.

Serious about saving money, have a winter or early spring wedding.  It’s as simple as that, you will save thousands!

Hope this helps

Wedding theme idea - Make it a reflection of you.

Posted by Lynn Crow | Under Wedding Theme Ideas, Weddings Thursday May 14, 2009

Marrying the love of your life is one of the most personal, yet public things you will do.  Coming up with a theme can be very daunting but remember that the day has to be a reflection of you as a couple.  Your guests will be people that know and love you, so make it a day that will see them say to themselves “that is just so them!”

How do you do this?  Make a list of all the things you like to do as a couple.  Do you love to go to the beach, sail, go antique hunting, eat lebanese food, see foreign films, horse ride etc etc.  You will find something that reflects you as a couple, a direction that will see you find the perfect reception venue or menu or colour and then you will be off and running…….you will have found your theme!

Hope this helps

When choosing a gift for you bridal party, we think the best advice is to make sure that the item you offer is a keepsake.  Something that will last a lifetime and remind members of your bridal party of you and your fabulous wedding day.

Bridemaids Gift Idea - Evening Bag

Posted by Lynn Crow | Under Bridal Party Gift Ideas, Weddings Monday May 11, 2009

An Evening Bag is a gift that every woman will use, it will never date and they will keep it for years. I received an evening purse for a bridesmaids gift many years ago and I use it regularly. Everytime I get it down from the shelf I think of the friend who gave it to me and I remember her wedding day. Now that is a keepsake!

Colour Inspiration for your Wedding Theme.

Posted by Lynn Crow | Under Wedding Theme Ideas, Weddings Sunday May 3, 2009

One of the easiest ways to get a handle of your wedding theme is to decide on a colour.  It can be your favorite or signature colour, which you can then weave through your wedding from invitations to bomboniere to wedding decoration .

You can start with a shopping trip with your bridesmaids to purchase their dresses, and therefore decide on a colour.

Are you getting married in a location which has a predomient colour, for example, near the ocean, in the country, in the mountains etc.

More to come

Bomboniere idea - Happiness Kit.

Posted by Lynn Crow | Under Bomboniere ideas, Uncategorized, Wedding Favour Ideas, Weddings Saturday May 2, 2009

Why not give your guests a “happiness kit”?

Simply take one of our clear PVC Cubes or a Satchel Box, print the  following words on a small piece of paper and make a small scroll. Tie with a tag handwritten with “Happiness Kit.  Place each of the following items, an eraser, a rubber band, a coin, a piece of string, a button, 2 marbles and a heart chocolate in the box with some craft filling (if needed), tie with lovely organza ribbon and voila………a wonderful idea!

The words of the scroll are as follows,
Happiness Kit
Eraser: To make mistakes disappear.
Rubber Band: To stretch yourself to the limits.
A Coin: So you never have to say you have no money.
String: To tie things together when they fall apart.
A Button: To press in case of panic
Marbles: In case you lose yours.
A Chocolate: To remind you of the sweeter things in life
Hope this helps

Invitation Money Saving Tip - Envelope Size

Posted by Lynn Crow | Under Budget and Money Saving Tips, Invitations Tuesday Feb 10, 2009

Make sure that you design your invitations to fit into a standard envelope.  If your invitation is an unusual shape or is larger than a DL envelope you will have to pay more in postage.

Hope this helps
