Wedding Money Saving Tip - Invitations

Posted by Lynn Crow | Under Budget and Money Saving Tips, Invitations, Parties, Weddings Sunday Feb 8, 2009

You can save money on your invitations.  Even if you are not crafty you can still purchase a DIY pack (we have invitations from under $2.00) and print and them yourself.

Having the right printer is important as many of the shiny and translucent papers really need to be laser printed in order to stop smudging.  Many businesses have laser printers and you probably have one at work, so ask your boss if you can use the colour or laser printer after hours.

It would be a pretty mean boss that said ”no” to you.

Hope this helps save you some cash!

To venue or not to venue!

Posted by Lynn Crow | Under Parties Monday Sep 1, 2008

Having your party at home can be a fabulous option, especially if you have an appropriate entertaining area and a great feature such as a water view or lots of land.

If you don’t have sufficient undercover area, a marquee can cover your guests and create an atmosphere. To stop your night being held in the kitchen, hiring a caterer or enlisting the help of teenage servers of preprepared food is a must.

One of the big benefits to having your party at home is that there is no time limit, no-one is going to ask you and your guests to leave at midnight, just as your party is getting going.  The down side of course, can also be the same point!!

Obviously your budget, time constaints, work level and the type of function you are having will also help you make your decision.  If you do decide to hire a venue for your party here is a list of options to get you started,

  • Restaurants, cafes and bars.
  • Sports and leisure complexes. Your local surf club usually has a great view of the ocean!
  • Spas   (See our Pamper Party Invitation)
  • Charter and cruise boats.
  • Historic house and other buildings.
  • Urban and National parks, beaches and backyards.  Great for family celebrations where kids are involved.
  • Local community halls.

Hope this helps

Girls Night Out Party.

Posted by Lynn Crow | Under Parties, Party Theme Ideas, Weddings Monday Aug 25, 2008

On our Something Fabulous website we have a large range of invitations that are great for a hens party, bachelorette party or a girls night birthday party.

Keeping in touch with friends is sometimes very difficult expecially when kids come along and life is busy.  Recently I used our Girls Night Out invitations to get together again with the girls I meet at playgroup.  We used to see each other at least every week but as our kids have grown, this time has dwindled.  I sent each one an invitation and we got together for some fun.  By the end of the night we thought we were the height of cool by all dancing with our hands over our heads and yelling WOO HOO, ok so we had too much champagne!  But we all had fun and felt a little younger, it was great and isn’t that what life is about?
